A busy machine shop based in Soham, Cambridgeshire require an enthusiastic apprentice interested in engineering and passionate in following an Engineering education pathway. Will be provided by the Machine Shop Manager and other qualified CNC Machine Operator/Setter/Programmer. This is an Advanced Apprenticeship, working in a machine shop, where the Company will train you to be a competent Machinist Operator and gain wider engineering craft skills over a 3 to 4-year period. It will involve attending college weekly during term time and with regular assessments conducted by the College.
During the first year of the apprenticeship, you will spend 3-days in-college during term-time and 2 days spent in the Workplace. Into years 2 to 3 years, you will attend college 1 day per week and 4 days spent in the Workplace.
Towards the end of the practical training period of apprenticeship the training will be all in the Workplace, preparing for the End Point Assessment. The apprentice would be assigned assessor through the college, who would typically come out to visit in the workplace to assess workplace competence. The knowledge side would be provided via day release workshop attendance, assignments, evidence of workplace competence. Portfolio would be checked via an online Smart Assessor.

Must have a genuine interest in all aspects of learning engineering craft skills and therefore willing to commit to this apprenticeship training that would start in Autumn 2024.
